Jokers Theatre and Comedy Club in Richmond Hill ON Canada

Investigators with the York Regional Police are seeking suspects following a break-and-enter and arson at Jokers Theatre and Comedy Club in Richmond Hill ON.

On Aug. 22, 2023, police were called to Jokers, located at 115 York Blvd., Unit 9, near East Beaver Creek Road, for a report of a break-and-enter and attempted arson.

According to police, the doors of the business had been smashed open. A video shows a suspect pouring an unknown accelerant on the bar, then ignited it, before spraying the accelerant around the venue. The fire and liquid caused damage inside the business, although the fire did not spread beyond the bar.

Investigators believe a suspect or suspects entered the comedy club around 2 a.m. and were scared away by a delivery truck that arrived shortly after.

Police released the video of the incident in hopes someone can help identify the suspect.

The video shows a suspect wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, possibly with a Calvin Klein logo on it, a black face mask, dark pants and light-colored shoes.

Investigators are seeking witnesses to the incident, anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity or anyone who may know the suspect.

The investigation is ongoing:

Anyone with information is asked to contact the York Regional Police No. 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7241 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, or by leaving an anonymous tip online at www.1800222tips.com.

I first met Paul Adams through his father, comedy writer Charlie Adams. Charlie was the first UK comic on The Comedy Green Room. Charlie suggested I check out his son, stand-up comic Paul Adams.

We hit it off and Paul was invited to perform at The HogTown Comedy Festival (TM) in Toronto ON Canada. Paul decided to move to Toronto and performed in comedy clubs and bars throughout Canada and the USA for about 2 years. Paul's clean and funny comedy style was a refreshing change to the Toronto Comedy Community from 2004 to 2006.

Mr. Paul Adams new book Diary of a Locked Down Comedian is a funny, charming, and insightful look into his pandemic experience. Check it out!
